World Poker Tour Texas Holdem Tournaments: WPT World ChampionshipHeld at the splendidly beautiful Bellagio Las Vegas in Nevada, the WPT World Championship is the culminating event of the World Poker Tour. In this major Texas Holdem event, the winners of the different poker tournaments run by the tour during the entire season would face off in one ultimate poker showdown. This event will determine the champion of the tour for the specific year. In the first season of the World Poker Tour, all the champions of the previous tournaments tried their very best to outshine and outplay one another for the right to be called the very first champion of the tour. James Hoeppner, Alan Goehring, and Kirill Gerasimov were among the top competitors. Phil Ivey, Ted Forrest, and Doyle Brunson were all present to compete in this momentous occasion. In the end, Goehring made the headlines by becoming the first ever champion of the World Poker Tour. The second season was just as exciting as the first. However, it was much bigger with better prizes and more participants. At the latter stages of the tournament, only six great Texas Holdem poker players remained. They include Russell Rosenblum, Matt Matros, and Martin De Knijff. Richard Grijalva, Steve Brecher, and Hasan Habib completed the final table. In the end De Knijff displayed better skills and tougher character to win the second WPT World Championship tournament. In the third season of this ultimate Texas Holdem tournament, the level of excitement continues to elevate with much higher prizes and more participants at hand. Bon Phan, Paul Maxfield, and Tuan Le were among the players who reached the final table. Phil Ivey, Hasan Habib, and Rob Hollink all tried their best to outclass their much favored opponents. At the end of the tournament, Tuan Le remained tough to bag the glittering $2,856,150-pot. The fourth installment of the WPT World Championship tournament was more exciting than ever. With more prizes at stake, the players showed better determination and toughness for the right to be called the ultimate winner at the end. Final table participants include Men Nguyen, Clause Nielsen, and David Matthew. Roland De Wolfe, Joe Bartholdi Jr., and James Van Alstyne were among the other hopefuls. In the end, it was Bartholdi over Matthew for the gold. In the fifth year of the WPT World Championship tournament, a much better competition was expected as a lot of newer and fresher players showed up for this major World Poker Tour spectacle. Mike Wattel, Tim Phan, and Carlos Mortensen were among the top competitors. Kirk Morrison, Paul Lee, and Guy Laliberte completed the final showdown. In the end Mortensen edged Morrison for another classic Texas Holdem finish. |
