To be able to familiarize yourself more with poker, poker slang is vital to learn. There seem to be a large number of poker terms known at present, and there are lots of them that start with letter D. Some of them are listed here, together with their definitions.

Dead hand - in poker, this means a hand that cannot be played because of a certain reason. One of the reasons may be that the poker player who owns this hand has been found to place incorrect amount of forced bet. Another would be that the owner has touched another poker player's cards.

Deal - this is the act of distributing a certain number of cards to the players at the poker table. Before dealing the cards, the dealer must first shuffle the deck of cards so that the deal would be random and fair to all.

Dealer - in poker, the term dealer can mean two things. One is that it may mean the person shuffling the cards and giving it to the players at the poker table. Another meaning would be refers to a certain position in Texas Hold'em poker.

Deep - a poker slang which signifies the amount of money a poker player has in his hands, or has lost. Usually used in phrases like "How deep are you?", to ask another player how much more does he have.

Dog - refers to the poker underdog. This is a player who has smaller possibility of winning over another player, because of the cards.

Donation - this happens when a poker player calls when he should have folded because he has a really bad hand. A poker player usually does this because he is bored and wants to be in action with the other players at the poker table.

Downcard - in poker, specifically in Texas Hold'em poker, the players' hole cards are dealt facing down, which is also called downcard.

Down to the felt - a poker jargon that mocks somebody who have already gone all-in and lost. The felt refers to the cloth on top of the poker table. The jargon wants to say that the player has nothing left, and all you can see on his side of the table now is the felt, which his chips had occupied before.

Drop - another term for folding in poker. A poker player drops his card on the poker table to show that he has folded.
